I'd say similar.. Some do drag on a bit and seem to shuffle the same things round and round though..
This is a forum and its purpose in life is for people to openly discuss matters and issues concerning (generally) caving..

If you are bored with it - don't read it - thats what I do and it solves the problem!

Which particular polls did you have in mind? And who is self-promoting and how?

Seems to me Mark is "hoisted by his own petard".

Dunc hits the nail on the head - it reminds me of the childrens' TV programme many years ago "Why don't you turn your television off and do something less boring instead?"

I have reflected on this during the development of this thread. What I have decided to do is this: Update the Cave Safe videos with new material focussing on the Stop and Bobbin, and to also include a section on training-the-trainer. The series will be then be issued on fully indexed DVD but the new section on training will be free for download. It is also on my mind to run a CSCC sponsored training workshop for club SRT trainers, but definitely no Descent articles.

If you want my views on Descent magazine I suggest you begin another thread! In a nutshell I am not prepared to spend hours writing articles for a magazine I don't really like in return for a token pittance..

If anyone has issues with a member's self-promotion on a particular poll, please either discuss it on that poll topic, or do it via PM in private.

Whether or not you consider Andy's topic as self-promotion, it's still been an interesting topic whic has raised lots of useful points and information. Please feel free to raise your concerns on that topic. Topics about other topics are just confusing and unnecessary.

If you don't like polls in general, then don't read them
