reason for caving

sorry to lower the tone of this esteemed forum :roll:, but this article, http://www.oucc.org.uk/dtt/vol4/dtt4_21.htm, gives an interesting idea as to why you might enjoy pot-holing - i'm hoping this case is pretty unique as it doesn't really match up with my reasons for caving

Can i just add to the list- the pure delight of crawling through fox crap? thats got to rank pretty high, if youre new to the idea though, may i suggest a wee trip down Fatigue Pot near Stoney.

Well that's all very funny, but what is it that cavers really like about caving? I get asked that alot, and have had to think about it.

I think that, really, people go caving for pretty well the same reasons that people partake in any sport. To be part of a team, to challenge themselves physically and mentally, to do something a bit different than the other people in 'the office'.

After that, I think cavers look back and realize that caving was in fact the thing that made their life one that was worth living.
