Remnant of cave refound

Hi,

Not particularly sure what's going on here,

It seems neither the "finder" nor the website contacted us or any other relevant authority (such as Brixham museum). From the description and photos this looks a lot like Colman's Maze.

That said the area is riddled with caves, with many of the smaller ones not on the digital database. We have had people involved during geo-tecnical and archeological works on this site. Any cave or associated features will have been looked at and througly recorded.

If you wish for further info feel free to contact me.

Just that grid ref on your registry shows Bench being well out to sea!
Will look into it, they used to be "dump" coordinates. This was to distinguish lost and unknown location caves. This caused issues when the system was digitised. Will get it fixed.

The registry does need tidying. I had a go myself a while back. I think the cave is the one you can see at the end of Freshwater Car Park but there are number of other fissures in Brixham. Some are in disused quarries on private land surrounded by housing. The cave was not lost as Brixham Museum confirmed on Devon Live. It is short, hard to get at and of archaeological interest only.

The chap who 'found' it is not a caver but a local enthusiast who reported all the fly tipping in Ash Hole to Devon Live a while back (see Descent for a full story)/
