We got back to Bull Pot at about 5pm after our tripto hear there had been a rescue & helevac

Was told (??) it was a clutch and plummet on first pitch of county, and result was dislocated or broken ankle.

Poor guy, I'm recovering from similar fall in Dent De Crolle a few weeks ago.

Sorry to hear of your misfortune, Wildsurf; would you care to elaborate on how it happened, though? (at the least so that others may learn from your experience).

I tried to abseil down the wrong side of the pull-through rope and fell 13m.  Total stupidity on my part.  I just switched off and broke every safety rule in the book, too many pitches led to over confidence.

The only lesson to learn is that good SRT safety technique is there to save you on the occasion you do something stupid and if you don't do it the one time you are stupid or forgetful or distracted you'll fall and could die.  And then there is all the people involved in the rescue who are inconvenienced because of an accident that could have been avoided by good technique.

I was lucky, I've only dislocated my foot and ankle, but it could have been much worse.

Ow!

Bet you won't make that mistake again - ever!
And that you can never mount a pull-through again or watch someone else do it without thinking about your incident.
Glad you got away without serious injury.
