Anyone got any information on this rescue? Heard callout was around 6pm and they were still working Sunday morning? Someone mentioned the maypole series. Any news? Was the casualty ok?

The casualty's okay and is recovering well.

The principles involved wish to keep the matter as quiet as possible due to the casualty's request to not alarm anyone friends or family unnecessarily. If this changes we'd be more than happy to discuss what happened.

As mentioned, casualty is doing very well and luckily injuries aren't too bad.

A GREAT BIG THANK YOU to all the lovely people that helped!!! It's good to know that it all went smoothly.

Thanks again.

While recognising and respecting the wisdom of not alarming friends or family, and given that the casualty has been evacuated from the cave and is recovering, is there any information on the nature of the incident, its cause etc.? Slip, trip, fall, equipment failure/misuse etc.?

Thanks to all those who helped Lizzy out, sounds as though she is well in hospital and will be moving home soon...
I am sure she will write an account on here when she gets home....

A simple slip while crossing over a hole in the cave floor led the casualty to falling said hole which turned out to be deeper than it first appeared (about 20 feet.)

Just in case anyone asks, this section of the cave was well within everyone in the group's capabilities and we'd only been underground for a couple of hours so tiredness wasn't a factor either. It was truly a case of bad luck.

Glad your recovering quickly.

Its nice to hear the good news of a caver recovering from their injuries who has been involved in an accident after the event has been reported.

I'll second that! Also, strange though this may sound, a successful rescue with a recovering casualty seems to me to be a "good news story". I hope you achieve a complete and speedy recovery.
