Ridge quarry access (Or lack of)

Just to let everyone know, I was out at ridge today and the large stones seem to have been pushed back, so access is no longer available. I got chatting to the bloke from the house across the road, who told me a group of kids  caused ?2,500 worth of damage to outbuildings and machinery two weeks ago, hence the closing of the slope shaft. I'm gutted, I was really looking forward to ridge.

I don't understand are the out buildings and machinery accessed down the slope shaft? If not why has the damage caused him to close that?

The slopeshaft is located in a yard used to store farm machinery, I guess the logic is the kids were only there because of the quarry, so if it's inaccessible they'll stay away?

The door at the top of the slope at monks has been welded shut and the other hole near the slope has had a steel door or plate put over it apparently its to stop metal thieves and wall/paint scrapers going down there doing more damage than good. Its a shame as it was a very interesting place for a browse and to see how the pillars were formed and the wartime graffiti carvings etc

Well the bloke who lives across the road said it's because of a recent spate of vandalism at the yard at the top of the shaft, it's a shame whatevers happened.

The slope shaft has been blocked for a while, access is still possible though, be happy to show you, although its not hard to find,the otherplace mentioned is also possible

I stand corrected, access has been blocked with a big steel door, with a large padlock, so obviously someone local has the key, shocking really was only down there last month
more idiots ruining it for everyone else
