Why can't people free-climb September Rift and Curtain Chamber any more?
because you are too old, I'm sure others still can

They are both straightforward free climbs (the entrance is a slightly different matter but still a free climb - but I've not done that yet!). However, for the sake of a bit of rope they are both much easier (and safer) so why not take the extra precaution? - after all they're both pretty close to the entrance so it's not like you've got to carry rope a long and arduous distance just to protect a short climb....

Hmmm...

Note to cavers carrying first-aid kits (see other thread):

Include large sharp knife and/or hacksaw for amputating wedged limbs.

:? :? :?

Novice caver: "Help! I've got me head stuck in this tight bit!"

Cap'n Chris: "Don't worry! I've got something here in my first-aid kit to sort you out."

Actually, you have hit on a descent bit of kit there.
Hacksaw blade

USE1) Cutting off trapped limbs.

USE2) Cutting off unopenable padlocks.

Anymore :?:

I am very sure Mr. castle is not too old to free climb September Rift.
You are only as old as the woman you feel!

This is rather late but when I posted that we had s.r.t.'d Manor Farm, the other week, I may have inadvertainly dumped a red, rope protector in Broken Curtain Chamber.
We did not need or use it but I did not mean to loose it.
If it is there could someone retrieve it for B.D.C.C. and perhaps give it to Tree Monkey or post it through The M.C.G. letterbox
Cheers

Naughty boy, whitelackington. You'll have to cough up if it isn't returned to the tackle store ....

You've lost another one. Mate you'll loose your head if it wasn't secured in the Axbridge Museum.

I was told last night by The B.D.C.C. Tacklemaster that the rope protector i thought had been lost was hiding in the bottom of a tackle sack (it was the same colour!)
So we are all friends now.
I must appologise to Farmer Giles, he had NOT been using it as a "G STRING"
