It's weekday daytimes only, so shouldn't be too bad for weekend cavers.

This will affect both the NPC hut at Greenclose and the Yorkshire Ramblers' hut at Lowstern.

Don't believe the suggested diversion route: there are plenty of minor roads suitable for light vehicles to detour past the closure.

Thanks for mentioning this. It's not quite as bad as it may seem. I'm told they haven't given proper notice locally and they also have a responsibility to maintain access to properties (which includes the NPC and YRC hostels). So it may be less of a problem than it first appears. I think the best bet will be to see how the first couple of days go next week and update folks on here once it's started. We also anticipate it shouldn't affect the long Easter weekend.

I'm sure the bookings officers for these two clubs will have a straight story for anyone enquiring about staying.

The signs that went up recently say work starts on Monday 3rd rather than Sunday 2nd, so no problem for this coming weekend.

Just a quick update; the NPC bookings officer has told me it should be business as usual throughout the next 5 weeks. She will inform anyone with existing bookings about the situation. Anyone else who wants to use the hostel should continue to make bookings directly with her, as normal. (I would presume booking for the Ramblers' hostel will be along similar lines.)
