Rockfall Marble steps

There has been a small rockfall in the entrance to Marble Steps pot with a few of the rocks landing in the gully route.  No great threat unless you happen to be there at the wrong time, but this is the second 'movement' I have witnessed recently.  A few months ago part of the traverse out of the Lower Main Chamber collapsed from under me as I headed to the rope climb down to the 240ft Way.  That is now actually a little easier and safer but it is a reminder that there is a lot of fractured rock in the entrance section of the cave.

We had a look at this yesterday - nasty! You're dead right in that it is easier now that the overhang has disappeared and the removable handhold is now redundant, but there is a lot more to come from the same section of wall. It has by no means stabilised.
