Correct. Also, we have Once in a Hundred Years floods every couple of weeks.
In Newspapers yesterday it was reported that a Geochelone pardalis has gone into hibernation, the last time the Geochelone pardalis hibernated was in roughy 1984 during the last big freeze,
Is this a warning of another big freeze ?

Entirely man-made?Les W said:whitelackington said:Cairo Shaft
Cairo shaft is an entirely man made lead mine with no natural development.
Entirely man-made?
Does the water drain away?
We woz down Singing River Mine
Sunday, that is man-made but there must be some natural cave as the water rushes down a narrow slot, probably worth digging/blasting

I believe the definition of a "cave" is that the passage must be large enough to allow the entry of a person.Peter Burgess said:How big does a fissure or crack have to be before it can be called a 'cave'?
It coud be worth a project at the soakaway @ the bottom of Singing River Mine,Les W said:whitelackington said:Entirely man-made?Les W said:whitelackington said:Cairo Shaft

No

I stuck my head down there once (that was a hell of an acrobatic manoeuver by the way, had to have assistance to get the right way up again) it is very narrow and would be a long term blasting project. It is natural though.

using modern methods/techniques.
There is still loads of depth potential.
MU states Singing River Mine altitude 151 m depth 25m
so 126 before sea level.
I wonder wot the sequence is here.

The passage in Singing River is heading for the valley to the West of Shipham IIRC
There is a small stream there that may well be from Singing River. If so then apart from opening a through trip there is not much potential. I don't believe it has been dye tested though.
Hughie said:I've got a secret dig that I frequent occasionally. Whitelackington hasn't attended. I can't say where it is 'cos I don't think I'm supposed to dig there. Haven't been there for a while - leave evidence of my visit in the vegetation this time of year, so it's really a winter dig. You might be surprised who's been there with me!!!
Hence it's secret!!!

Would that be at the top rift on the hill?
I should have said, You can't beat a bit of solo digging Les. 8) For the record I don't own a cat! But I do own a Jack russell which enjoys a good dig!Les W said:Tree Monkey said:Cat beat a bit of solo digging!!
Your cat goes digging on its own
You forgot me Les! I'm almost a metre taller than the others!!Les W said:I believe the definition of a "cave" is that the passage must be large enough to allow the entry of a person.Peter Burgess said:How big does a fissure or crack have to be before it can be called a 'cave'?
Obviously this requires a "standard" person. I expect there is a British Standard for a "standard person" or perhaps an ISO standard or a Euro Norm (EN)
Is this why Dwarves find more cave
From what I've seen of the diggers in the mythical Upper Flood Swallet extensions they're all quite small too.
