During a digging session on Saturday there was an abrupt change in the type of sediment, I want to know what caused it and if we can draw any conclusions from it about future prospects.
the passage goes off a streamway about 3' above the water level, going up at a slight incline, the initial fill was silt and sand with a thin layer of clay over the top, after a ~90degree bend it changed over the course of 4' to heavy blue-gray clay. I can think of a couple of possible options
the passage initially blocked from a drift of silt deposited because of the corner and the clay deposited later from the slower flowing water. the fill could continue for ages.
the passage filled up gradually and the changing sediment indicates we are nearly at the end of the blockage.
Does anyone have any idea which is more likely/any experience of this type of sediment.
