Yeah, I know a whole bunch of folk who'd happily walk up to GG with big rucksacks full of food on their backs ? or maybe even hire a chopper ? and keep me going while I lurk around in Sand Caverns.

Yeah, that's the problem with self-isolation - every person self isolating needs at least one person who is not self-isolating to support them. Preppers will be laughing, but even they may have problems with medicines.

Speletorn: Sand Caverns in GG? People could lower supplies down the main chamber.

I think you might have spotted a major flaw in speleotron's suggestion there Fulk. However, it should be possible to survive for a couple of weeks on Vesta Curry. Two boxes a day, 28 boxes, is just a sack load. Soak the stuff for a few hours before eating and minimal amounts of gas are needed to warm it through mmmm.

Anyone got suggestions as to what we might all do if we have to self isolate, to pass the time? In my case I'll use it as an opportunity to mend all that worn out caving gear that has a habit of accumulating.

Or maybe catch up on all those promised  journal articles there never seems to be time to do properly.

It?s not often that you see Vesta Curry and minimal amounts of gas mentioned in the same paragraph.

I recently got one of these, although must confess haven't done much with it as yet:

Comes with a solo adventure so could play in splendid isolation.  Just add pencils and paper. No need for WiFi or electricity so could also play in a dark cave.  Preferably one with random draughts and deep shadows for better atmosphere...

I'm currently walking on my treadmill whilst watching caving videos on youtube

Well we're now being asked to work from home. Shame I'd already booked the week off...
At least I didn't need to feel guilty about doing some social distancing and going underground today  :)

I?m glad Roger and Jackie are looking after themselves. Would be more upset if anything happened to them than a temporary closure of the centre of the universe!

I reckon we'd all end up looking like those things from Descent. Some east Dales cavers are already half way there

Not too bad, I assume you men the scantily clad females with ice axes.

Although nowadays I think they'd be classed as inadequately clad, rather than scantily...
