My guess would be Langstroth pot. Long entrance crawl check, Wharfdale check, diving (free diving) check.

Also I think is grade 5, check.

After reading this report, I can only conclude that two Tolkein fans saw a spider and thereby named their caves, However, the one in Debyshire was back in the '70's.

Okay so its in Derbyshire, can mods move this to Derbyshire forums? We can't have Derbyshire caves mucking up the Yorkshire forums now can we.  :chair:

Hmm, well I will go back to my original conclusion. The only reason the sump was unrecorded was probbably meaning "unrecorded" was that there was no pictures of it.

Found it. I think it's Hagg Beck Sink. There's a bit of info online if you Google it.

Are we going to get a write-up in Descent at some point, or did I miss it?

Sounds like a good effort by the digger's anyway. Well done.

I don't have that Journal to hand, so I don't know what's in the article, but browsing the WRPC news archive it sounds like the breakthrough was in early 2006:

"Its gone! ... They have discovered some big passage and nice formations, unfortunately its stops too early at a large sump ... The sump is at the end of a very large passage".

I guess full details will be revealed in the forthcoming WRPC Journal :)
