does anyone know much about springfield/entry hill quarry near fox hill in bath? i recently looked through window of the padlocked door into the mine but it goes round a corner just after the entrance so i couldnt tell how far it goes on and there doesnt seem to be much information about it online.

Went there in 1964. Mine goes in and comes out the other side of the hill.  This leads to a horseshoe shaped quarry with smaller mines nearby.  I assume No 90 has the key.

It was the open workings that were filled with rubble, Springfield was one of the largest, if not the largest open quarry in bath. I believe the door you are referring to would connect with some filled workings in the council depot on the other side of the road?

oh right. it also looked like a temporary fence had been put up round it. i wonder how much of that place is still unfilled.

I'd say it's a bat hibunculum judging by the door and the concrete work, probably not much to see. The fence is just to stop you getting close to the unstable cliff face. All the bricked up bits are natural rift features I think.
