I'm interested in this but unsure if I've got enough SRT experience. I've gone up/down a rope, switched midrope, and negotiated a few deviations and debelays. I've only done this over a couple of cave trips, and a little practise at home in a tree 🤣. Would I be ok to join, or better looking for a more intro level?

In general I'm pretty confident with the skills, particularly up/down, however the others I'm slower and may need a second check before making a move that'll send me plummeting to terra Firma.

I'm sure you have enough. I've been on this course and it will probably be just down and up somewhere like Sell Gill Holes, possibly an easy deviation or rebelay if the trainer thinks everybody will be up to it.

You'll be absolutely fine, Jonny. The trainers always watch you carefully on any tricky bit, in case you need any advice. It's very different from a club trip, where you might be left to "get on with it".

What's more, if you've never caved in the Dales before, you're in for a treat!

A great workshop today with some really nice cavers.
A look at SRT kit set ups, an hour on the indoor training rig at the CPC followed by a slick trip down Sell Gill.
After a very pleasant walk back down in the sun chatting all things caving, we were treated to tea and cake by Pat back at CPC HQ.

I like to think of it as “enthusiastic” rather than “pushy”.
