Sorry to hear that.

I hope you get it back, but being realistic i doubt you will. Useless scroats will have anything unless you use multiple chains to something solid and cover it in rottweilers. :( I think there are a couple of BMW GS forums, might be worth posting on those as well if you haven't already.

(Nice bike, I've got a sertao.)

Never know, may have been joyridden and it'll end up in a ditch. The annoying thing is, I had over 4 chains on the thing + cover and tracker ahah. It is what it is, better to just move on. Enjoy your Sertao :) That GS range is so nice.

Rotten news; I'm so sorry Marsrat. I've had cars broken into twice over the years in Castleton, so I have some idea what you must feel like. If it was well chained that suggests it was lifted onto or into a vehicle.

Long shot; any residents near where it was parked have securityu cameras?

Fingers crossed it does turn up, undamaged. If you have a tracker fitted, there's hope I guess.

Sorry to hear that. My T7 got pinched last year. They cut through the chain & front disc with an angle grinder, then pushed it away with a moped.

Police actually chased them, so it was recovered, but I went down the insurance route in the end as it was a nearly new bike, but was now in need of a new lock-set, ECU, etc.

Hope the little scrotes crash it and die, but I doubt that.

A guy at work had his bike pinched in Bristol recently. He found the fuel tank for sale on facebook marketplace a week or so later (still in Bristol!) and recognised the remains of his own sticker on it. The police actually turned up, after he'd solved the crime for them.

As someone who is considering fitting trackers to my bikes, I'm guessing it hasn't been much use in locating it?

From what I hear they're hit or miss. If you use the tracker within 20 minutes of the bike being missing, you'll likely find it but they're very quick on getting it removed. They'll tear the bike apart.

I’ve got a tracker on my S1000XR, but only because it came with one and kept running the battery down trying to pick up a signal….insurance saving against the subscription cost was about £10 my way.

But if someone nicks my bike I’m not interested in having it back. If I can stop them in the act that’s great, but if they get it away then it’s gone as far as I’m concerned.
