Stolen winch at Templeton

The bottom winch at Templeton (on Mendip) appears to have been stolen. We certainly cannot find it anyway. It is not where it should have been. We did consider the possibility someone sneaked down and hid it as a joke, but we could not find it. Because it was Bank Holiday on Monday we have not been there since last Wednesday so can only say that it has been removed since then.
I just wanted to spread the word in case anyone knows anything. It should have been at the 166ft platform at our dig, and would have had to have been hauled up by hand ( or carried). It is an electric winch - the kind that cost about ?60 new and are used in garages for lifting engines out of cars. It has an extended electric cable. We are sure it cannot have much second hand value.

I think the sad thing is, it stolen by two or more cavers.  No sane  person would descend 166 feet to nick an electric motor

it does leave a very nasty taste to think a fellow caver can stoop to petty theft.

Alternatively, perhaps something came up...from below...
