Stoney Middleton Cave Clean Up

MarkC from Chesterfield Caving Club has arranged a skip with NE to be placed on the walk up to Carlswark from the normal layby in Stoney Middleton.

The skip had been delivered tonight - 23rd April, and will remain there until it has been filled!

There is a working party into the dale this weekend 25th and 26 April, should anyone feel the urge to drag tat and junk to the surface and eventually dispose of it into the skip.

I should be available to accomodate a Thursday evening working party - on 30th April as well - see separate report regarding 23rd April!

Pm myself or MarkC for further details.

Myself and MarkC from ChesterfieldCC paid a visit into t'dale on evening of 23rd April to clean some of the junk out of Nickergrove.

A quick change saw Mark push his new shiney wheelbarrow up the Delph and then carry said article to adit entrance of Nickergrove.

A quick bimble up to the shaft saw a quick rig of said shaft with ladders, but then we popped into the rear chamber to clean the pipe work and associated gubbins out of an abandoned dig.

Numerous lengths of hose pipe attached to very Heath Robinson water collection devices were removed and taken back to the the shaft area.

Mark then dropped down the shaft and set about clearing up at the bottom, - where there was evidence of previous digs.

I was at the top hauling stuff out, firstly a large diameter-ish pipe about 15' long, followed by a load of smaller diameter stuff totalling about 50' - someone must have been good at plumbing down there.

Then the last load was a tad heavy, so Mark ascended and we hauled up a load of tarp and more hose pipe.

All this tat was taken to the entrance and placed for collection to the skip at a later date.

A good job jobbed!  (y)
