Stream Passage Pot

I seem to recall one in Elliot's rigging guide. Don't know about the CNCC guides though.

might want to add a deviation in on the last pitch.

I prefer to rig the last pitch as a straight descent off the traverse + almost immediate deviation rather than a Y-hang, seems to give a good descent all the way to the floor.

Cheers for the rigging guide Benfool - I see the rope lengths are more sensible than the entirely spurious ones in Selected Caves! (20m rope for a 27m pitch?! magic!)

Yeah pretty sure checc has a permit for GG, all entrances, so I'm sure people will be going down. I'm not surprised about the shitty rope lengths in selected caves - I've been caught out a few times by that book!

Glad I could help with the rigging guide.......

Not too difficult.. Mixture of passages, walking, stooping, crawling etc
Have a look at the GG surveys on Cavemaps - gives you an idea of where to go.

Mud Pot it self, would not cause any issue its that big pit on your left once you go up the slope after mud pot where you have gotta be a little careful, but the ledge is very wide, so I cant see why anyone would have any isses. Unless Ian you are referring to Mud Hall which you will not encounter if going in via Stream, that does need a careful walk around.

As mentioned, caving is generally quite easy, but route-finding in the region between the point at which Stream Passage itself opens up at the start of North-west Extension (I think that's what it's called?), where you turn right past Mud Pot, and Sand Cavern, can be a bit of an issue.

Facing away from the bottom of the last pitch of Stream PP turn right and after less than 50m go round to the right on a sloping mud bank. Mud pot is at the bottom of this. In the new passage after about 20m I drop down a few metres through some boulders and carry on round to the left for about 20m. Up a smooth slope and down some stratified sediments on the other side puts you in the S end of Sand Cavern. Going down to the left, instead of up the smooth slope lets you traverse along the right hand wall of a passage and then climb to the right, crawl for a few metres and drop into sand cavern 20m or so beyond the sediments (which used to look quite nice). After leaving the other end of Sand Cavern via the passage on the right remember to turn left at the next junction, otherwise you will get to Flood/Bar.

Another way to put it: At the bottom of the pitch take the only way on and follow the stream until the passage opens out in a Large T-Junction. The water then flows into Mud Pot. The way on is to go up the slope on the right, and then drop down between the boulders  on the left as Chocolate says, (After the big hole). You can take either passage leading off at the bottom as they both go to the same place. The first sandy chamber you come to is NOT Sand Cavern. In this chamber either exit the via the crawl on the right (easist) or cross the chamber and then traverse forwards along the obvious route. Near the end of the traverse you will find an exit (hidden) high up at roof level. You will emerge where Chocalate says above a climb leading down into Sand Cavern. Follow Choclates route from there.

Feel free to use the least confusing description (probbably Choclate's lol)
