Update to the French newspaper report:

The operation promised to be long-lasting but, finally, when the first rescuers arrived at the entrance to the abyss around 8:30 p.m., the young man burst out of the network. Helped by his comrades, he had finally resumed his progress. His state of health being considered satisfactory, he was left behind after being examined by a doctor and the operation was therefore completed.
