Swildons to Wookey

It would be the distance between the Queen Victoria pub and Higher Pitts farm (more or less). In a straight line with the length of the streamways in Swildons and Wookey Hole added on. This is your task Whitelackington. If you like, you can come and look at our survey on the wall to work out the Swildon's streamway bit!

Start with the assumption that the main Swildon's streamway is about 2km long. There you are, you can do the rest now.

I am still hanging on for The New Wessex Survey, how long now? :doubt:
There is little point in a new Wessex Swildons survey at this time, as the current one has pretty much the whole known cave on it. Nothing would be achieved by producing a new one until some major discoveries are made within the cave.  ;)

Hmm......big blank area between Cheddar & Priddy, that wouldn`t happen to be the Yoxter range would it Hughie ? We all accept caving has its risk element but dodging the bullets is a bit excessive methinks !

No - it's not the Yoxter Range.

I understand access to Yoxter is available by arrangement.

The big blank probably includes Middle Down - an area where IIRC there are no caves mostly cos no-one has got round to looking there in earnest yet.

Just because there is limestone, doesn't mean there are caves surely?

There are also some big blank areas between the Priddy area and Cheddar - mainly due to access difficulties. Anne and I are working on this by attempting to encourage a relationship between her youngest daughter and the landowners Grandson - apparently he told Kerry he wouldn't marry her if she was the last girl on earth. however, they're only 9 or 10 so there's hope yet. Seriously though, I reckon we could have access when the elder generation relinquishes it's grip, as I get on quite well with the two sons. Definitely stuff there as the sons tell me they frequently drop a tractor wheel down thinly covered holes.

Maybe, maybe not.
