Templeton is now locked

Yes, Templeton now has an impressive lid over the hole (at about 25ft below field level) and is locked.
Access as always is on digging nights with the diggers on Monday or Wednesday evenings.
If you think we have put a lid on because we are about to break into mega cave, then you will have to come along to have a look for yourself! Best to give one of the diggers notice beforehand as parking is limited. You can always pm me on here.

That's the whole point!

Some say it's a cave dig. Don't be fooled!

How deep is it now? and what's the nearest cave passage? I've got a big pile of Descents in the corner, but I've just had a big curry and am going nowhere..

The deepest accessible part of Templeton is approx 254ft. This is in the North Pot. There is a slot in the floor where all the water goes, but is very narrow (6" maybe? But about 5' long) We will come back to this soon. Meanwhile the South Pot is about 210ft deep. Nearest known big cave is probably Wookey Hole, that is where we intend to end up, with several side passages that lead to the ends of caves like Swildons, St Cuthberts and Eastwater. Plus of course a lot of extra very pretty passageways which we will find quite soon.

Well you couldn't make it up, Templeton locked !
It's not even April 1st. Hope you have given our  Graham a Key!

Nah. Keys only issued to those "in the know"....... :)

Graham is welcome any time - as long as he complies with access procedure. Which I'm sure he would have no problem with.

Actually the lidding and locking was mainly due to continuous "out of hours" visits, added to which the landowners insurers weren't happy with it regarding public safety.

Incidentally, if I recall correctly, the pl insurance obtained via the BCA is only ?5 million. Agribusiness industry standard is now ?10million, following a successful ?6.5 million claim. Ouch!
