NAMHO is willing to consider suggestions for support. We have talked to Simon in past years - Roy is our contact with Simon. We also have funds. We would be willing to consider suggestions for how the funds might be spent.
Peter Jackson - NAMHO chair.
(PS : Conference this year is now open for bookings)

Just an additional thought.

Do the files / records for the mine exploration board that Miles used to run still exist?
It would be fascinating to see some of those again. :)

It's good to hear that a return is still on the cards. It was definitely a much loved resource and greatly missed by many I suspect. Notwithstanding the excellent hospitality offered to us here which is much appreciated (y)

Hello Pete.

Thanks for the message it is nice to no namho is looking into this. I originally joined aditnow a few years ago and found it a good online home for my hobby . It is a essential website in my opinion , new mine explores in my eyes look for a place to follow suit on what to do, for the past two years they have only had our “temporary” forum and 28dl hosts mine exploration also. 28days later was the first forum I ever joined and luckily some one pushed me towards aditnow and then I understood how important clubs are and so on.

To get to the point 28dl was completely rebuilt within less than a week. it houses an extreme amount of photos with various security levels. I would propose as originally suggested a website rebuild on a modern design “phone friendly” with multiple mods to control sensitive areas they live in / regularly visit. Having localised mods would be the best option to keep away any sensitive stuff and they can choose the correct security levels for conversations / photos.

Aditnow was an amazing site and it’s lay out how you searched for example “box” and it brought up every conversation with box and pictures is a great feature. I think we should ask maybe ukc? Or 28dl about there software and go from there for a full rebuild.

If people still did choose as originally said a couple pounds each month for a donation , for maintenance time etc this could also still br considered.

Just my opinion

Tom

I think that an earlier comment of mine was misunderstood. I have had no recent contact with Simon but can tell you that AN will be back on line at some time in the future. He regards the site as 'his baby' and would not let anyone else get involved. He needs to be left alone to do what he can when he can. NAMHO isn't looking into it, its just that the money and the willingness is there as indicated by Peter J. But there isn't really anyhting that anyone can do - except wait.

To be fair though, it's natural that people are thinking about knocking up alternatives after 2 years. It could be seen as a gap in the 'market'. We might even end up with 2 mining sites as in the AN/ME days!

I don't think this is a bad thing . There is already a handful of extremely good forums adjacent to this one that are regularly used and appear more active.

Some of the discord forums unfortunately surpass this website and are used by a higher volume of people which are much more active in terms of mine updates and access.
Unfortunately times are already moving forward. So here's fingers crossed that Aditnow now makes a reappearance soon, as I know three people who are working together on an alternative

As someone who dropped off exploring for a few years, I'm very sad to see AN go dark. It's a huge loss, and with ME gone, I can't help but feel a bit lost for info & community. I think alternatives are healthy, and needed, in areas like ours so we don't have a vacuum like we do currently. If 28DL went dark, even though I don't frequent it, Derelict Places would still be about.

I read above about discords and would be grateful to links to them that could help me find current info. Cheers, and apologies for being slightly OT.
