The Sad Death of Kim Jong Il.

It is very sad news but at least we have the comfort of knowing that the North Korean nuclear arsenal is now under the control of 28 year old Kim Jong-un, The Great Successor, and we can all sleep easily in our beds.

reminds me of Nazi Germany!

Both totalitarian regimes, with a cult of personality embedded in the leader.  Yep, all the basics similarities are there, although they don't have a murder programme based on racial identity

The great advantage of these "communist" regimes is the stability.

Instead of unpredictable elections which might be won by anyone, you have the assured succession from father to son.

Or am I confusion this with Monarchy?

North Korea is what the late, lamented Christopher Hitchens described as a necrocracy given that Kim il Sung, who died in 1994 at the age of 82 is still the official president.

The Northern part of Korea, used to be the most advanced and most prosperous,
sixty years of communisim has reduced it to a basket case.

If they put a few servo motors and whatnot inside, he can stand beside his son and wave to the crowds on state occasions.

"After Kim Il-sung died in 1994 the regime called on a team of experts from the "centre for biological structures" in Moscow. But some reports suggest North Korean embalmers are preparing to do the job on Kim Jong-il themselves."

I dread to think what the result will look like.  Not so much "smiling portrait" as misshapen, discoloured, gurning lump.

They have missed a great business opportunity there - marketing second hand supreme leaders - good runner, cheap to maintain, very economic on power if used sparingly, excellent for first-time despotic regimes.
