    An informative discussion

Recently there was long thread about the BCA. I can now post possible answers to some of the questions, such as "Why is the BCA still raising membership prices when there is a significant amount still left in its coffers?"

So come on then Dan / Bat Girl (separated by 10 seconds), where's the next pic?

(be warned Dan, that doesn't read "Dan stroke Bat Girl!")

Don't tell me where it is, cos we all know that, BUT, can you tell me who the people are, when the photo was taken and what are they doing?

That looks like an inflatable boat in the picture so I guess they are going into Dan Yr Ogof but I don't know what for.

Well, I reckon it was taken about 1968-70, obviously they are engaging in a bout of world-class pre-trip faffing about and, from left to right I would say (and this is undoubtedly wildly wrong): Frank Baguley, unknown, Kev Davies, unknown, unknown, Stevie West, unknown, Eric Inson (or is it Tony Knibbs?), Jopo(?!), unknown, unknown, unknown (I thought it might be Roger The Bomb but I'm not so sure).

I can't help feeling that the two generators are of more help than the dinghy but I don't know why...

Sincere apologies to those I have (mis)identified....

It's Penwyllt!!!  Do I win £5.00?  I also recognise some of them.  The one at the back on the trailer is...er...Whatsisname.  And the one looking important who's facing the others is...wait a minute I think I've got it...erm...Thingummyjig.  The one I do really know is Baggo on the left.  Must be circa 1927.

When the SWCC elite exploration team turned up that weekend to push into OFD 3, they suddenly realised that they had all left their helmets at home. Frank, ever keen to take the initiative, offered his scooter helmet, and also found an old plastic bowl in the kitchen. Now all they needed were some lamps.

SWCC with kit for one of their Balinka Pit Trips (Former Republic of Yugoslavia) 1964/1968 ?

(Famously got a medal for the 2nd trip, the Star of Yuogoslavia (?) which must be fairly unique among expeditions.

  Well done Fred. This photo was taken in 1964, so it was the first trip to Yugoslavia. Thanks Doggy for putting some names to the faces; the only one I already knew was Gordon Clissold (stripy jumper).
