Does anyone have any suggestions for a tough Cordura oversuit?

Have had a caving supplies cordura suit for a couple of years now and is as tough as nails.

In hindsight though, should have specified neopreen cuffs to stop water going up to me armpit, and a pocket somewhere on it for stuff. Otherwise good.

Have also invested in Meander suit recently and pretty good although more susceptable to ripping on sharp stuff.

I would echo Andy's recommendation of the Meander cordura suits.  I bought a Single Helix (like the one Andy put the link up to, but without the extra reinforcement on the knees, bum and elbows) a few months ago.  I really like this suit, I find it extremely comfortable indeed, and to date it seems to be immensely tough.  It has been used for a mixture of digging and tourist trips, and certainly stiffens up far less with use than the Warmbac lightweight suits I used previously.

thanks for the advice, I like the look of those Meander suits and would like to have a closer look at them some time.

I think ill get at a Caving supplies suit, they are fairly tough from what i have seen.

Daleswear used to do a nice black heavy duty suit. Great for private land at night.

Only do them in red now I think though they soon take on a worn in filth colour if you're the type of person who takes good care never to clean their kit!
From experience they easily outlast the Beaver & Warmbac equivalents.

In my own experience, the AV suit is unsuitable for pretty much anything other than 'low contact' caving. I had to have mine repaired soon after purchase, despite deliberately sidelining it for use only on less demanding trips.
Recently, all the stitching on the bottom of the breast pocket disintegrated. I noticed this when my camera hit my knee!
All that said, it is an extremely comfortable suit to wear. Unfortunately, comfort's not much good when pieces of your suit are strewn through your chosen cave!

Aye I have tried an AV oversuit, and I echo the response that it is not good except for big open cave systems. I have already worn mine out after buying it about 9 months ago. It lasts basically as long as a normal yellow meander if you don't patch it.

Do bare in mind though that I tend to visit the more tight and less visted so more catchy caves. I also tend to go every weekend so I put my suits through alot. I may try the meander double helix next. If they still making them? I know production has stopped on the yellow ones.

Interesting feedback on the AV suit. I was considering one of these. Perhaps I'll stick with the tried and tested Warmbac afterall...

Still very much in production, and very much in stock at caveclimb.com

Production of the Criou (PVC yellow suit) has been suspended while Meander source a new supplier for the material.  We have only two in stock in size 2B and 4B.  We have a much better size range of the Double Helix.

The AV suits are nice and comfortable but recently I made the mistake of wearing it into a section of cave nicknamed 'the wetsuit shredder', it done a good job on the suit.

Im looking for a Bomber suit for tight caves, one of the thicker suits preferably.

Someone suggested a Mogot suit, anyone have any experience of these.
They look quite thin.

I'm very tempted with one of these Double Helix, as my Warmbac is close to finished, and I really prefer Cordura for my kind of caving - however, I'm a bit nervous about buying a suit without trying it on first, as the fit would be critical, but I live way too far away (Sheffield) to come down to the store unfortunately. I'm of average build and height, if a tad muscly up top, and no beer belly - how flexible are the sizes in terms of getting it just right? I'd hate it to be too small - my Warmbac is too big, which is just as annoying!

Well impressed by the new JumpSuit oversuit, medium weight Cordura, with reinforcements in all the major wear areas, fitted hood, inner pocket and braces (I especially like the braces!!). :)

The Meander sizing system seems to work pretty well - you can find it on our website here: http://www.thecavingandclimbingshop.com/epages/BT3421.sf/en_GB/?ObjectPath=/Shops/BT3421/Products/Tricolourdry

As an example: I am 6'3", 14 stone and my height is in the leg rather than the body.  I find a 3B is perfect in body length and I don't need a belt to keep the suit up.

If you order a suit that doesn't fit we will refund or exchange.  We send everything post free but do deduct postage costs if a we refund a returned suit - but this is usually less than ?5.

Hope this helps.
