Taken this evening near Ingleton. Already an abandoned car up the lane ❄️⛄️

Yes and don’t even think about south Lake District tomorrow unless there’s a massive overnight thaw! There’s about 20cm in Kendal.

Descending Eldon lane was "interesting" yesterday evening in a front wheel drive car with (slightly) wide tyres after the snow settled.

Creeping down the snowy road at snail pace it was impossible to stop or prevent it speeding up! I had to drive onto the grass to stop.

Luckily... all the the lane except the very last bottom section has enough verge to drive on at least 2 wheels to allow escape. If there had been no grass I'd have had to run it a wall to have stopped it running away.

Plus a full aquaplane at 60mph for maybe 3 or 4 seconds on the motorway. Definitely interesting driving conditions! Consider your journeys wisely round the Peak also.

Down in Furness is covered in a thick blanket, the lakes will be a massive no go. Hopefully goes before tomorrow's trip to the training hut at Helwith

Early Sunday morning; not too bad in the Clapham area; the picture below is fairly representative.
Much milder, claggy and slowly thawing. The A65 is flowing fine.

We've just driven down from Keswick, on our way home to Suffolk. Only a sprinkling of snow in Keswick, the bad stuff starts a couple of miles further south. Snow all the way down the A1 until petering out at…Peterborough.

There's a good two inches of snow come down overnight in the Peak.

a good 4 " in Matlock bath still
Next Saturday is forecast to be a balmy 7-9degC up there - hopefully that proves to be correct as we're due to meet JH & (maybe) the youngster.....if the trip fails it'll mean that my sprog hasn't managed a trip underground this year.

Chilly digging above Masongill yesterday with the Chums, where the usual icy blast blowing out of the dig was warmer than Death Bivouac on the surface. Brrr ...
