Trip into GB, Manor farm or Tynings Barrow swallet

I'm planning to do a trip one evening next week into one of the above mentioned caves and I was wondering how I might get access, key's etc...  I've not done any of them before and there's only me and one other coming up from Devon, probably thursday evening.  Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Likewise if any wants to tag along the more the merrier (group sizes observed of course?).    ;)

Please note that the Tyning's Barrow Swallet access info needs updating after David Reake's death, otherwise people might put their foot in it if they call at the farm asking after him. Perhaps CSCC C&A can organise this asap.

Coxie, you might care to drive up from Shipham, calling in at Tynings Farm first, if you get an answer and the key then TBS is then a straightforward Plan A. If there's no-one in, a mile further up the road is Manor Farm (right hand side); you can call there and do MFS (no permit or key required) as a Plan B; if you prefer instead to visit GB you'll need to organise the paperwork and key beforehand (worth the effort as arguably it is the best of the bunch).

Will do. Is there a new person to ask for?  I guess parking at the stables (for a fee) is still OK? Do you call at the stables or the farm for the key?

Personally I've never been very successful at finding anyone in.

If GB is your prefered choice, then depending on what evening you had in mind and what time you were going then it is about time me and Hugh went down a cave, we might join you. I can sort you out with key and permits.

Not sure about who to ask for but I imagine calling at the farm house itself (rather than the stables/bungalow) is the best plan. Also, I guess (paid) parking at the stables is still OK with them (??? talks). Historically the key was held at the main house. Small goodwill fee, too, IIRC (50p/?1, can't quite remember).

Personally I, too, haven't been very successful at finding anyone in either. It's hit-and-miss. Sadly the mobile number I've got is Mr. Reakes' which I'm guessing is no longer relevant.

I'd go along with this. Not only a nice cave, but good company.

Hi Chris,
B.D.C.C. hope to be doing Tyning's this Saturday, I'll post on our efforts to gain a working key.
Happy New Year Mick

Three of us from B.D.C.C. paid ?1.00 each to Mrs.Reaks for the Tyning's key, quick, from knocking on her side door main farm house to walking away with the key two minutes.
The key is put back in her letter box on outside wall.
Padlock a little bit difficult to unlock, I think it was semi frozen.
We first did the round trip as a figure of 8 pullthrough (unnecessary, previously have free climbed it in both directions) a descent stream today, and for Tyning's the air was fresh, down to A Day and back out.
I am now FAT 14 stone, the slot drop down from Dragon Chamber was an interference fit!
Good trip, very warm in cave, freezing on surface.
