If you join a club, some have SRT kits that they'll lend out to novice members to get established with, which gives you a cheap way to try it out before committing to buying an arse load of pricey gear

An I right in thinking that a caving SRT kit would consist of a caving specific harness, descender, cowstails, chest ascender and appropriate krabs?
Two of the main kit suppliers are Starless River and Inglesport.
For starters, have a look at the Starless River primary kit and then look at the more complicated Inglesport kit Builder
That should answer most of your questions about kit (but don't look at the prices . . . )
