If there's snow on Tuesday as forecast Mam Tor etc. will look spectacular from the train and so will the train itself as it steams along the Hope Valley line.

As you were - loco is ex LNER & BR A2 Class Pacific 60532 Blue Peter. 20 odd mins late through Marple & Edale.

It's not a million miles from Tornado as it's a rebuild with double chimney. I shot a vid. which I'll upload to Youtube but I bet there'll be much more professional ones on there by now. I'll look tonoght.

I was told the smelly is there in case the steamer fails as Notwork Rail charge for one of theirs to rescue - and, of course, it helps with these heavy trains > 700 tons.

Saturday morning might be tasty with new snowfall before the rain arrives.

Mayflower may be doing this trip. We'll see.

Train finished at Preston due to flooding at Ulverston. Already 2 hours late - had it got to Barrow it would have been something like 01:30 24/11/2024 having left Barrow at 05:20 on the 23rd. 20 hours on the train so per hour the fare is reasonable.
