Wellies new Vs old

Having finally bought a new pair of wellies due to no grip and holes appearing. I decided to compare the two pairs. Both Dunlop actiforts. The top pair has been caved in for about a year

I tend to have three different sets of wellies (Actiforts) on the go... a really good newish pair with plenty of tread for caving in South Wales (or Ease Gill) where there is lots of slippery boulder hopping, a moderate mid-life pair for northern potholing, and a knackered pair for digging. All my wellies therefore enjoy three different 'lives' before being consigned to the bin.

You must be doing plenty of caving, Babyhagrid, to wear them fully down in a year... good stuff

I have some Dunlop wellies, during the Cwmorthin mine trip I felt like they may fall off on the zip lines. Any recommendations of good wellies that won't feel like they may fall off.

Nice. I asked for that. 🤣
I have a foot condition so if too small it causes significant discomfort. Didn't want to go into that.

Extra pair of socks, of the optimum thickness?

Or, if neoprene socks - a thicker pair?

Arch support insoles in wellies seem to work very well.
