Where can I get some conservation tape?

Hi All,
I am looking for some orange conservation tape to replace some red and white hazard tape.  I have been told by someone that CSCC bought a load that could then be purchased by member clubs.  Is that true?  If yes, who do I need to contact?  If no, any idea where I can get some?
Thanks

CSCC conservation tape is free to member clubs' digs where new stuff is being found but is charged, at cost, for replacing tape already in situ. If CSCC is out of stock more can be ordered; PM me if you want to buy stuff direct and I'll give you the contact details! It's called flagging tape and can be horrifyingly expensive depending on where you look!

Thanks Chris,
I picked some up from Les (thanks Wendy) on Saturday and the great re-taping excercise has started! I will give you a shout if I need more and CSCC is out of stock.

Notwithstanding the recent developments on Mendip the time had come for CSCC to restock with 50* rolls (yes, 50!) of conservation tape: FOC for new discoveries, ?2.50 per roll otherwise. It's the top quality plasticised hi-visibility orange tape. Available via the C&A Officer, Les Williams (it's presently at the Wessex so if you need some it's easy to call in and collect).

* Hopefully this will be enough for a couple of weeks, or so.  ;)

At the rate things seem to be going in Charterhouse, hopefully not!

Well there's these two decorated passages that still need pushing (carefully).

Dunno, I'll check. If so I might be able to drop them off with Ali tomorrow.

On the issue of conservation tape, whilst I wholeheartedly support the taping of formations and other cave features to protect them from damage and I am coming round to the idea of more restrictive access arrangements. I have always found the orange or red/white tapes rather aesthetically intrusive. If the purpose of the tape is to deliniate a route through a cave to minimise damage/wear and tear. surely brown or black tape would achieve the same purpose. ???

People have enough trouble seeing the orange tape   black or brown would be almost invisible to them.

If we could educate ALL cavers to stay on the worn paths there would be no need for any tape. Good taping should be minimal and designed to allow access to areas of interest that might not "go" but are not obvious from the main "beaten track", as people WILL cross tapes to find out if the passage they can see really is a dead end or not.
Whilst tape is obtrusive (as is anything that is not naturally in a cave) the orange tape is much thinner and less "in your face" than the red and white striped "Welsh" stuff. Another important consideration is that the colour leaches out of the red/white polythene tape into the cave environment, whereas the orange tape that is now being used is much more stable and environmentally friendly.
