Where is Nettle Pot?

Tried to find Nettle pot recently , but couldn't!

We had no OS map which didn't help, however the description I had sounded fairly straight forward and we seemed to be in the right place ie "100 yards upstream from the bridge in Gawthrop"  but didn't find the entrance.

Are we just stupid, or are the directions I had wrong/misleading??

The beck Nettle Pot is located in is the one which is more often than not dry. If my memory serves me right there are two streams that pass under the road that goes to Gawthorp. One is always flowing and goes under the road immediately before it turns sharp left and then uphill for Barbon. Well thats not the one. Before that on the way up the hill from the Dent/Sedbergh Rd, are a couple of cottages on the right. Just near them is a very small road bridge that crosses an overgrown stream that is more often than not dry. That is the Nettle Pot beck. You could easliy miss the bridge. Have a good trip. Last time I was down there was a problem finding a sound belay for the short pitch - but we managed in the end. It's a great little trip  (y)

Thanks for the info.

Yes we probaby are stupid! I did see the dry over grown beck you describe as we were driving off, but we decided it was a ditch and not a beck. We should have put the extra effort in and had a proper look.

will try again sometime!

I would add that there was all sorts of junk washed into the cave when I went down (with Mr Fell  (y)).

Looked like it needed someone keen to take a spare tackle sack and drag some of it out.  :-\

There's a good thread in the stream bed about a foot(ish) back from the head of the pitch. I would have totally missed it had it not been for one of my companions.
