Whisky Bottle Junction, Rampgill

Sad to report that Whisky Bottle Junction is now just 'Junction'. It looks like somebody has cleared all the bottles out, and the sign too.

Maybe I've made an assumption, and they've actually been removed somewhere safe for conservation reasons, but they're probably on some Urbex-er's trophy shelf or eBay in reality :(

On a lighter note we went for a tourist trip through the new Cross-Vein dig today, fantastic job, and thanks to those involved, a serious effort. A trip to see both veins becomes much more interesting than inbye-outbye-inbye-outbye now.

Problem was that they were aparently breeding judging by the recent number, people kept adding to them, non of them were real artifacts.
Come back in 40 years and they'd have been real artifacts 🤣 I mean I get excited to see a good condition Capstan packet or a stoneware Ginger beer bottle. Maybe one day people will find those 🤬 disposable vape litter or a discarded can of Monster a good find? Seems harsh to clean away whisky bottles

I think its yet another case of a group making a group decision regardless of whose property is involved, a sore point with me as a mine owner. Hence my little 'notices'.

As a regular Rampgill-ite, I've noticed the bottles increase and decrease over time but, until now, never disappear totally. Whilst over-proliferation just looks gash, a few examples are/were a harmless distraction and, although not to my taste, I think someone has been high-handed in making a unilateral decision to remove them. They're probably now at the bottom of Engine Shaft or dumped in some nearby crosscut. And forget about preserving the 'authenticity' of the locality, the whole mine is a dynamic environment and change is inevitable as collapses occur and are then dug out again. Access or Authenticity, can't have both!

Glad you liked the Cross-Vein Dig! :dig:
