there was a fairly facile discussion on breakfast time news today about weddings in strange places - the hypothesis was advanced that people were getting too hung up on competing for the most bizarre location and forgetting everything that comes afterwards.

They also mentioned that the average cost of a wedding nowadays (and I can't believe I heard aright) is £15000. This just a few days after the news items bemoaning the increasing length of time it takes married couples to save up the deposit on a house ... perhaps it wouldn't take them quite as long if they spent a little less on the wedding.

My sister got married in a hot air balloon in Vegas :)

But that said, a lot of that was just because they wanted a simple, spur of the moment thing rather than some epic.

15 grand is crazy really - sod that! If you want to spend that much then go to the registry office and take a 3 month luxury holiday or something :freak:
