Membership vote on constitutional change.

Given that it'll soon be two months since the BCA AGM, are we getting close to the vote on constitutional change?

Just asking!

Hi Madness

It's currently in the planning and a notification will be published in the next few weeks (in fact I drafted this last night and it's being reviewed for impartiality at the moment so the timing of your inquiry is impeccable).

There's a lot of planning behind the scenes on this; our webmaster is building a system to allow this to be administered more efficiently than previous ballots. Our IT team are refining the member email system to enable it to be emailed out more efficiently. Plus we have been preparing the ballot text (ensuring no bias etc) and we are currently appointing a Returning Officer who is unconnected to the ballot to deal with any postal returns (we still have ~2000 members who have not supplied their email address to us or who don't have email). We had a lengthy Webex call on Tuesday night and all is falling into place and we are aiming on running the ballot starting mid-October to close end of November.

It's a lot of hard work (not to mention lots of key BCA folks having been on holiday/organising Hidden Earth, actioning other things to come out of the AGM etc) but rest assured it will happen and in a suitable timeframe for the outcome (if the amendments are accepted) to be implemented in time for the 2020 AGM.

More information to follow soon.
