    An informative discussion

Recently there was long thread about the BCA. I can now post possible answers to some of the questions, such as "Why is the BCA still raising membership prices when there is a significant amount still left in its coffers?"

Indeed. Whilst most of us wouldn't object to the odd candle how would people feel about lighting say five hundred in a cave?

Happens every day in the Great Cave chamber in Peak Cavern.
I dont think its quite 500 - but its certainly enough to light up the whole chamber - and it looks fantastic.

submarines must have alternative light sources as they are built to be still operational after a nuclear holocaust and i don't think carbide could be used for very long, so what do they use?

probably electric, then candles, then when they both run out it's carbide, but they have to open the windows for fresh air.

I suspect if they haven't got electric to run some lights, then the boat don't work at all...

Don't they have a back-up rubber band for propulsion?

Maybe they keep a huge stock of baked beans, the product of which can be used to move the sub backwards, via the torpedo tubes.

Tenuous link back to carbide via gas manufacture. They're both inflammable, and smelly.
