Yes i'm sure thank you very much..........

So there i was sat at a Sub Brit do yesterday listening to a talk on cave rescue by DCRO chap.  As the slide show was being shown my mate sat next whispered to me,

"They've all got beards, do you have to have beard to be a caver?!"

   (y)

Les used his beard to filter out a horde of marauding mosquitos the other day. Apart from a place to store miscellaneous items, or as something to eat when you no longer have any food, it was about the only time I have ever seen a beard be useful.

"Twas brillig, and the slithy toves, did gyre and gimble in the wabe; All mimsy were the borogoves,
  And the mome raths outgrabe."

Is that from jabberwokky? sounds like lewis carol anyway.

To keep on topic- I have no beard, want no beard and only one person i cave with has a beard, however we're all under 40 ;)

It is from jabberwocky. If you'd had a beard, you'd not have had to ask! :tease:

I think facial hair helps your caving. I shaved all mine off the other day and haven't managed a trip since  :(

This could be due to the relationship between shaving, working and lack of free time  :-\ but perhaps in this circumstance, corelation equals causation and there for facial hair makes you cave

There are stick on beards available from all good Harley shops.

You'll find them above the stick on fat stomachs and below the stick on ridicules hair

There's an idea! the stick on caving beard. you could catch it in a rack and just leave it there till you get to the bottom of the pitch, you could also have an axtra long one for wearing to H.E. and club dinners so everyone would think you were at the top of the pecking order.

Which rather opens up the challenge of:

Which UK Caver has the longest beard?

[to avoid cheating I need to define the standard:
this requires looking straight ahead and gently tugging the beard down until it touches your chest - unless you can do that you're probably not in the running. Beards shold be measured in inches; an archaic unit of measurement to match an archaic form of status symbol and personal adornment]

Beard? I thought it was a snake chasing a rat across yer face. ;)
Wessex apprentice. Does that mean you are not a ChCC apprentice anymore?
Traitor.

I seem to be a victim of too much caving and too little time!...be assured that next time I get a Wednesday night free I will be along for a ChCC trip.  (y)
I take it you are back caving then Mark? if so we will have to do a trip sometime (when I'm not on a ban).
We could always go to Goatchurch! :tease: :ras:
