Cavers on street view
« on: March 21, 2021, 09:46:55 pm »
Just spotted two cavers giving the thumbs up to the Google Street view car on Priddy Green in 2009. Anyone going to own up to it?

Any other cavers on street view out there?

I’d guess the caver on the right is either Steve Sharp or Tim Rose - but complete guess based on a blurred face.

That up by Little Neath river cave. I think there are a group of kids in Burrington Coombe as well. There are more, a lot of the roads near caves seem to have people hanging around in suspiciously clean Warmbacs

It was 12 years ago - maybe too embarrassed about wearing harnesses down swildons...

Could they be part of the Mendip Outdoor Pursuits party whose van is parked by the barn?

For a while my old pickup was on Street View parked outside Reservoir Hole when we were digging there.

Should still be there if you wind back the time (the little clock symbol top left, under the map icon). Is it this one? https://goo.gl/maps/dk1EicarVEFgiL9G7

You've also reminded me that my Land Rover is on Google, stuck in a bog on the way up to one of my old digs in the Weardale (it is elsewhere about 5 times, but this is the only caving one I know of). About 100m to the south you can see my mate's Isuzu Trooper that pulled me out a bit later...  :-[

At least the farmer didn't have to come up with the tractor on that occasion!  ;D
