On Saturday 24th November 2007 Simon Brooks, John Taylor and Simon Cornhill made a breakthrough in sump II. Simon B and John dived to clear some boulders then Simon C dived and was first to brake new ground reeling out line from 11m at the dig face to 15m, all that was on the reel.

On Thursday 13th December 2007 Simon Cornhill visited the sump, attached the new line, arranged belays and progressed beyond last point reached to around 20m into the sump II.

On Saturday 15th December 2007 Simon Brookes and John Taylor dived. Simon reeled the line to a low arch then John then pushed the line into a low, wide bedding.  Sump II line now at 30m from dive base with passage continuing.

Yep, South West, heading for Downstream and Drought Series sumps but the best bit is that, if we hit the lines from those sumps, that is not the end of the story! The water does not come from there, they are just windows into the main sump. Exploration of the main sump upstream is the goal.

Good work fellas!  (y)

How many more metres before you find yourselves 200m of rope? 12 days to go...

The new "Caves of the Peak District" should be out sometime soon, so we're bound to get a big 'development' just after it's gone to print!!!  ;)

Nice one lads - delighted at the news. Bout time this one went as it's been a Derbyshire Section dig since about 1975!

I wish you the best of luck - you deserve it after all your work!
