On 25th, 26th and 27th May the Buttered Badgers will be undertaking a sump pumping project in Rowter Hole. We intend to keep access open throughout (who are we to deny you all access!?) but would prefer if people did avoid sporting trips over those days if at all possible. We will have 250m of cable that will wind its way from the surface to the sump then another 100m or so of 2? pipe draining water through the Ice Cream Trail. It?s also possible that we will be camping both on the surface and underground.
If you have your heart set on a sporting trip down Rowter that weekend then that?s fine, just please be aware that there may well be some inconvenience caused to your group by our operation. We will try our best to keep everything out of the way of the normal trade routes wherever we can and will clear up all of our kit at the end of the weekend.

How did this go?

Be interested to hear the results......

It went well...but not quite well enough (yet). The pumping worked in that it got the water over the watershed and rapidly reduced the level of the sump but a few practicalities with priming and portability meant that we couldn't get it drained enough to get an airspace on this occasion. We have a plan to return in June, so watch this space!
