ITS so long ago Bograt I cant remember a thing about it.

Well at least this lay off is proving productive in one way.

reached 1800 uploads on my caving photostream. this is an interesting bit today.

the first climb of ascension and exploration into high country. rarely you get the chance to photograph the exploration of a big new passage at the time of discovery. worth a look at the stream to see how big the passage is. home to millions of botryoidal stalagmites. i have not seen the like anywhere else.
currently the reservoir uploads are going backwards in time. thats the way i am picking up the dated files.
still there have been hardly any photos other than by the diggers in high country as its off the main tourist routes and means laddering ascension via the pulley cables to achieve it.
going to be out of caving longer than anticipated as they wont operate on my hernia until the arm is out of plaster.

sometimes a set of photos can be so special.
not necessarily because of their technical quality but for that moment at which they were taken. these were taken when we walked around the corner to be the first people to see the frozen deep.
you should never see photos like this again as these areas are beyond taped paths now. the entire upper end of tfd is now a complete no go area. nobody is allowed up there . these photos are it.
i still remember standing by alison too awe struck to speak. in fact i wanted to cry. i actually did when i got home.
the cave was kind to a humble photographer that day. i got a good set of photos without the back scatter you get here in the damper winter months.

and the one you could only get by chance . leaving tfd on that first day. somebody shouts"below" and i get it.

yes very special for me.
