Everyone here knows whats wrong with chipped bins... so why IS it happening?

As far as I am aware, this idea ( to identify the owner of the bin and then charge for the amont of rubbish produced) was shelved because no council wanted to trial it?

Computer chips ARE injected into the bodies of all wheelie bins. But (where councils make use of the chip, and not all do) this is to enable Councils to monitor the performance of the contractor. But chips can NOT ?see? or weigh what materials are in the bin.

I know what I am talking about - I work for a local council.

Be interested to see whether anybody can name a Council who are using chipped bins to monitor refuse disposal by households.

Cotswold District Council for one. But only to monitor the preformance of the contractor.

It is impossible to use chips to monitor a housholder's waste. Even if a database could be kept up to date, bins move between householders, some have communal bins, bins are stolen etc etc. My council (pop 133914) currently have hundreds of properties where bins have "gone missing" in the just the past few weeks and need replacing. Most of these will not actually be missing, just at the wrong address. Furthermore, a large number of properties still have poly bags as wheelie bins are unsuitable (steps, hills, terraces etc) and you cant chip a poly bag. The idea that councils ever wanted to chip wheelie bins and monitor each household's waste is an urban myth.

On subject and Probably gonna open a can of worms saying this...

I think this Racist issue is occurring allot more then we occur to admit I listened to what was said on that video when he though the camera was off and allot of people around me seem to think that. It does seem even to me like immigrants get treated better people born here, such as declaring there house as a religious centre and not paying any tax on it (even if its not true). Its policy’s like that, that anger people. I have nothing at all against immigrants I just don’t think there should be all of this Positive discrimination, they should be treated like everyone else and live by the rules already existing in this country and have special rules made to cater for them, otherwise in doing so we are discriminating between immigrants and us just the other way around.

Am I racist for saying that? These issues need to be discussed but everyone except BNP (who are unfortunately probably are Psycho’s), seem to just skirt around the subject.

This should please the BNP
http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/news/uk/article6521774.ece

More than 100 Romanians forced from their homes by racist attacks are likely to abandon Northern Ireland.

They were forced to take shelter in a church overnight,
are currently taking refuge in a leisure centre and will be offered temporary homes in student accommodation.

I'm looking forward to seeing how the BNP will condemn it, yet manage to get some mileage out of it.....

Chris.

"While some councils informed the householders of their intentions to monitor their waste output many others did not.[1][5] Worcester City Council, for example, detailed their plans through local newspaper Worcester News in August 2005."

Not sure if they are STILL using the system, but they were. it seems, using it monitor the waste output of households

Perhaps, like everyone else, they should consider following the rules that allow them to smash their neighbours' windows and engage in other threatening behaviour.

Just a thought.

Dues this  rule only  apply to the  neighbours as mine are ok, however there are a few other people I'v met in the past that may qualify, and not necessarily immigrants. ;)

Someone needs to do some family tree research and find out that some distant ancestor of a BNP MEP is from Italy or something. then they can repatriate themselves :)

On the subject of wheelie bin chipping and pay per kilo - there are many sensible objections to the system but it will be popular with councils as it looks like they're trying to do something. see also road pricing, ID cards, the parking permit scheme outside my house.
All not really needed and technically flawed but will be pushed through because the authorities want to "do something"

If "they" got rid of people and had robots to do all "their" work, would councils cease to invent nonsense
to annoy the rest of us, I doubt it.
This country is drowning under the ever more hated bureaucracy pushed down on us.
