• Tony is on holiday until Saturday 20th

This means that the Travelling Shop will be out of action for a week and any inquiries sent to him won't be picked up until he's back.

In the meantime the rest of the Starless River team will be hard at work ensuring online orders are posted out to you all. Thanks everyone.

  • Help us work out the future of the Inglesport Café

We've been trading since 1977 and next year will be our 50th anniversary.

The café has been part of that for a long time, running quietly in the background for years, and we don't think it always gets the credit it deserves as a genuine community hub. But we need to be straight with you: the café is under real pressure, and we’re not sure of the best path forward.....

Accessing the UKC boards on a mobile device

Earlier today I received an email from Tapatalk (still registered from when I did use it) informing me of an update. A quick nosey at the reviews doesn't paint this new update in a good light, although I guess like a lot of software it's horses for courses. Maybe the "subscribe" feature mentioned by Bottlebank is a part of this update?

two simples fixes, manually request desktop site, that will redirect you from ukcaving.com to ukcaving.com/board or you can specifically request the /board page both resolve the issue and are simple fixes.

Yeah, but if you are requesting the desktop site why not just use a browser? As per usual, XKCD has it nailed.

I think using a browser is exactly what's being discussed here, isn't it?

subscribed topics are ones where you have clicked the little star at the top. I'm guessing it's like a Google bookmark/favourite.  so you can go straight to a list of your  favourite threads.

I just use 'unread' and occasionally 'participated'.

A google search for "tapatalk privacy issues" returns 1.5 million hits (and a search for "tapatalk security issues" also throws up quite a few hits).

Why on earth would anyone want to use the tapatalk app?

A google search for "android browser privacy issues" returns 78 million hits (and a search for "android browser security issues" also throws up 7 million hits).
