Mendip Rocks, Earth Science Lecture Day

Mendip Rocks are holding a number of presentations on Saturday 17th October as part of the Earth Science Week. Talks will include:-

Anjana Khatwa, award winning presenter and writer: "The Whispers of Rock: Stories from the Earth". Vince Simmonds, archeologist and cave explorer: "Echoes of the Ice Age: A Pleistocene Record from Mendip Cave Deposits" Of particular interest will be the recent find, the Woolly Rhino Skull that is now in Wells Museum. Advanced Notice 17th November 2024: Knotlow/Hillocks busy

DCRO will be running a training exercise on the morning of Sunday the 17th of November 2024 up at Knotlow & Hillocks. We'll only be working around one of the surface shafts, not underground, but the parking area will be quite busy with team member's vehicles. If you plan on visiting the mines on this day then you are still most welcome, but might be better off parking down in Monyash and walking up via Blackwell Lane. It only adds 15 minutes to the approach and you'll be closer to the café in the village!
