I came across this creature a few weeks ago whilst caving in the North Albanian alps. Around 3cm in length, it certainly looked and moved like a leech, although I'd not seen one with apparent amelanism before. Assumed unpigmented leeches must be a fairly common thing in certain cave environments, but having searched online for more information, found very few, and none of those resembled the beast in this picture. Amelanistic leeches have been recorded in some deeper sections of caves in the Balkan mountains, but this was found in a streamway a few meters before resurging into the valley (1700m asl). Any leech experts out there?
