Perhaps you could have a notice attached to a post on the side of the road or better still written on the road.

Big ones, in blue, that show the name of the road and where it goes.

This sort of thing.

Phew! - nightmare. Just got back from Birmingham and I was only planning on popping to Swindon. Seems the road signs aren't as useful as I was expecting.

Next time I'm using public transport.  :)

Ahh, a warning sign, escape while you can otherwise you'll end up in London.. :)

Some work collegues were driving from bristol to darlington. Easy enough: m5, M42 and so on.
However you have to turn off the m42 to stay on it, else you end up on the m40.

They realised what had happened at the North Circular, now further from darlo than they were 4 hours earlier, despite having noticed there's "another" Rickmansworth in yorkshire.

Apparently they just started giggling and eventually arrived in darlo very late indeed

Just goes to show the risks of solo driving. Oh, they weren't solo were they.

What we need is underground GPS. "At the big drop go straight on".

Rather takes all the fun out of it though not to mention being almost impossible to accomplish unless you stick some sort of relay transmitter that applifies the signals above the caves. P.s. No idea what I am talking about here lol.

Back to the original topic: it strikes me that it was a good job this little 'adventure' happened on Saturday, and that it wasn't a 'quick trip before the rain sets in' on Sunday.

I was on a trip with a very well known Mendip club, the first 3-4 (with no up gear) went in ahead to rig, they assured everybody that they knew not to descend the first hole you come to, we went in 10 min`s later, only to find them looking up at us from the bottom,
up gear was sent down and they all ascended with red faces.  :spank:

Should always have your Better Half with you with a copy of the survey when you go caving.

You'll still probably get lost, but at least you'll have a good excuse...  ;)
