when they were published! Not for one minute am I suggesting that happens here. :)

'Vetting'????
Probably not the best choice of word - proof-reading, checking that everything discussed is included, the overall feeling of the meeting is correctly given and generally checking that I am not about to publish something that isn't what was said. A perfectly standard process that all BCA minutes go through. Nothing more than that really, but it takes volunteer time.

I quote "Before publication the full Draft Minutes should be agreed by each of the Executive. However, in the event that this is not possible within one month of the meeting, the Secretary should ask another Council Member, or Members, to check them before publishing." see http://british-caving.org.uk/wiki2/doku.php?id=council:meetings. I think vetting is one way of describing this process.

If you are concerned about this process, then one test would be to check on how much is modified by the subsequent meeting.

Accurate minutes are a very important part of democracy in committees. For the CNCC there is now an agreed system in place for approving the draft minutes which I proposed after discussing it with Bob Mehew.

Quote from 'any other business' 2015 CNCC AGM.

Simon Wilson raised the issue (already discussed) of the circulation of the minutes and expressed concern that the motion accepted earlier in the meeting had not successfully captured his wishes. Simon said his main concern was that he wanted meeting attendees to be able to change the draft before it was put on the public website (not necessarily that the minutes should remain private until the next meeting). There had been concerns expressed about the delay the latter would incur before minutes were made publicly available.
The earlier proposal was scrapped and amended to one representing the following procedure:
?Minutes will be labelled as draft and made available only to Full Members (General Meeting minutes) or Committee (Committee meeting minutes) for one month to allow for comments or amendments. Only then will the draft minutes will be made available on the public website. The ?draft? label will be removed after the minutes have been accepted at the next meeting.?
