BCA membership renewals will open on the 1st December.

BCA Membership

Now we are nearly mid way through November I imagine you are all getting restless, wondering when you can pay BCA for another year of membership?

Renewals for individual membership of BCA and BCRA, plus club membership of BCA, will open on the 1st of December.*
*Please note if you join on the 30th November your membership fee will be discounted but only last until the 31st December 2024.
If you join on the 1st December you will pay the full price but get membership till the 31st December 2025.

If BCA holds your email address on record you will get an email in early December to remind you that your membership will expire soon, advise that renewals are now open and also contain some instructions on how to log in to the new membership system for the first time. This email will go to all BCA members, individual members so they can renew, and club members for their information only.

Please note: BCA fees are increasing in 2025. The membership system will automatically apply the new fees. Clubs have been informed.
More details here: 2025 BCA fees

If you wish to have continuous/ unbroken BCA membership you need to renew and pay by:
Individuals members by the 31st January 2025.
Clubs by the 31st March 2025.

If you haven't logged in to the new membership here are some instructions on how to log in:

If you were not a BCA member in 2024 you need to sign up - click the link below, click 'sign up' and follow the instructions!
Sign up for BCA membership

If you are a 2024 BCA member you already have an account on the new system.
To log in for the first time: Open the BCA membership page by clicking the link, or copying and pasting this link to your browser
Log in to renew BCA/ BCRA membership
Type your email address into the ‘log in’ box – you will need to use the email address you have used for your 2024 BCA membership. Then click ‘forgot password’ This will trigger an email that will allow you to set a password and access your account. If the email doesn’t arrive please check your spam folder, as password reset emails are often directed there.
Whilst the new BCA membership system can cope with couples and families sharing an email address it can't cope with the same email address being used as a username twice. In this case we have generally set extra usernames to the members name in this format:
Forename.SURNAME
If more than one BCA member has the same email address please try names as above as the second log-in.
You can add family members to your profile, which will allow you to view and renew memberships on behalf of your family. To add them you will need the email address linked to their account and either their date of birth or new membership number. However as our previous membership system didn't collect date of birth data these family members will need to log in first to set this, or find their new number.

If you have any problems logging in, renewing, adding family members etc please get in touch via membership@british-caving.org.uk
I will be very happy to help.

Successfully created my account and have put a note in the diary to pay my 2025 subscription on 1st December.

Dead easy; many thanks for the clear instructions. (y)

While not wanting to promote single use plastic... (I'd rather fight those battles over things like milk containers and 90% of supermarket packaging) how can I request a physical card?

I did get an email in March with a link for an eCard but the link takes me to page that says "Service Withdrawn" and a link to BCA justgo.com where I don't know a login and password reset doesn't recognise my email? (I don't receive a password reset email)

I'd struggle to show BCA membership to anyone if needed for access somewhere, which selfishly was my main motivation for (direct) membership.

Is it possible for direct membership to request physical cards in 2025?

Some people would accept the email in your phone, otherwise you can download, but then need to be able to print it (explained on original post) - so need to contact Katie about email not being recognised - looks like the eCard upload was temporary until justgo finalized:

Sorry, one of the benefits of using JustGo was the cost the machine for printing the plastic cards, which was £330/year, plus the cards. It wasn't cost effective to keep paying for the machine for a small number of cards.

As mikem says, there is a small number of members whose emails aren't recognized by the system, so please email Katie and she will sort that out for you.

Wow, I'd have expected small runs (e.g. batch of 100) to come in at 90p + VAT each, no machine costs using various online companies. And you could've charged members a £4.00 extra fee if plastic required to cover admin and postage. Still anything is better than what PADI would charge for theirs 🤣

Thanks, will email as it doesn't recognise my email

Hi Tom,

As the others have said please pm me on here or email membership(at)british-caving.org.uk and I will have a look at why you can't log in.
Often it is just a case of knowing which email address you used when you joined BCA, as that will be the one that works!
The card link that no longer works was disabled when we got the new system up and running. Once you manage to log in you will be able to download your card.

However renewals open from the 1st December and when you renew you will automatically be instantly emailed a copy of your membership card.

I do not wish to upset or alienate some of our members who don't use the internet at all, so physical membership cards will be available by request for 2025. However these will not be plastic cards - they will be printed on business card paper (which is really confusing, as it means you now get a card membership card)

As others have said, maintaining the ability to print small numbers of plastic cards was not cost effective, but we will offer the card cards (told you it was confusing!) to those who really need a physical card and are unable to access or print their own card.

It being 1st December I just logged in, hoping to pay my BCA subs for 2025.

Clicked 3rd green bar down: "MEMBERSHIP".

Top item on the page I get says:
"Caving membership is ready for renewal: RENEW"

Clicked "RENEW" and it says:
"There are no items to choose from at this time."

Am I missing something?

If you experience the same problem as Pitlamp, when you click renew it says 'no items to choose from' please check your personal details page.
The system wants data in all the required field boxes to allow renewal.

The main one likely to be missing is gender, as BCA previously didn't require gender data, so we couldn't auto-fill this when we pulled the data across.

You are very welcome to select 'prefer not to say' for gender.
