Berger or other European tourist caving in 2024 or beyond.

Are there any clubs planning trips to Europe next year (or beyond), that would be open to non members joining them?

I'd like to go back to the Berger as I haven't been there for a very long time - 30 years! - and no one on that trip reached the bottom as it was too wet. I'd be very open to other classic trips as well. 🙂

There is a long French trip most years to the Berger in Julyish to do a clean up (ie you shift a bit of junk on your trip). A lot of people went last year before the international congress. Seems very well organised. Anyone can go. It is what I would do, and in fact very nearly did last year. You are not allowed to solo, so either take a friend or join up with someone. They have radio comms underground for weather, that sort of thing.

Thanks Fjell. Wasn't sure they were still happening. Be nice to help clean the place up, as well.

Send your question to Arsip

Arsip is the organisation that gives permissions to clubs for several caves on the PSM. They know when and which clubs are coming, so if they can give you those clubs you can contact them and ask I you can join.

You can see the agenda of the planned trips (classic and explo) online, blue activities is classic caving (non explo)

Thank you for that Leclused. 👍

I tried to see of there was something similar for the Berger but couldn't find anything.

Interesting point(s) made: "...What do you think when someone arrives at thebriefing asking "are the rebelays difficult? What are we to think when a rescue is activated just because they feel a bit 'down' at -250m? How many participants have found themselves progressing alone through the cave, contrary to the basic safety rules they had previously accepted? How many have ended up coming out in a state of extreme tiredness, because they couldn't decide to turn back in time?".
